Veterinary Nurse
The Austin Vet Specialists is growing! Having opened in May 2022, we see an ever-growing and exciting caseload of mostly small animals with the occasional exotic and zoo animal (think lion, capybara, orangutan).
Therefore, we are looking for a Veterinary Nurse to join our Nursing team.
At The Austin, nurses are ACTIVELY involved in procedures and patient care. You will be doing AMAZING things that you never thought you could! We encourage applications from veterinary nurses with prior referral/specialist experience as well as nurses wanting to progress their career by moving into the referral/specialist setting but are unsure where to start. Mostly we encourage applications from people who want to progress their nursing career, love a laugh and care deeply about their patients.
How we work
You will rotate through the various departments (with full support), including wards, surgery, internal medicine and imaging, making sure we deliver exceptional patient care and outstanding client care to owners. Daily duties include admit/discharge of patients, induction/monitoring of anaesthesia and sedation, inpatient emergency and critical care, pre and post operative care, as well as maintaining the overall hygiene of the practice including ward areas and equipment.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and expertise:

Completed (or studying for) Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing

Desire to grow professionally and undertake further training

An extensive knowledge and understanding of veterinary nursing procedures

Willingness to participate in rotating roster including night shifts

Possess initiative and a positive mindset

The role is permanent and fulltime (38 hours over 4 days per week) with a rotating roster including night shifts. Financial loading and other incentives apply providing an attractive salary ($29-37/hr) which will grow with you as you develop your career. We believe in a work-life balance so there will be no weekends and no public holidays!
