The Austin Vet Specialists is looking for experienced and people-oriented receptionists with EXCELLENT communication skills and a POSITIVE demeanour. We are looking for full time Receptionist/Client Care team members to join our team.

You will be the smiling face that welcomes owners (and their pets) at reception, the helpful voice that guides referring vets on the phone, and the dynamic person that helps their teammates.

In addition to providing excellent customer service to clients and ensuring that front desk operations run smoothly, you will act as the primary greeter when a client enters the waiting room with their pet, alert the medical staff of the client’s arrival, and process the client’s payment at the conclusion of the appointment.

The role

The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Provide outstanding customer service greeting clients and pets, answering queries, processing incoming patient, and handling payments

  • Answer phone calls, which may involve screening and scheduling appointments, or redirect referring vet queries

  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and email, developing working relationships with external veterinary practices

  • Maintaining cleanliness of waiting room

About us

The Austin Vet Specialists is an independent-owned veterinary specialist centre (it makes a difference!) with a team of almost 90 lovely people. Referring vets entrust us with the care of their clients and pets, and this trust is paramount to everything we do. Our purpose-built specialist veterinary centre is designed around the idea of “working together” and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. We pride ourselves on our attitude to care and the ability to work together respectfully and effectively.

Essential to the role:

  • Proven extensive experience as a receptionist, or customer care representative (minimum 3+ years) in similar role

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written

  • Ability to maintain daily administration with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Capacity to work in a team environment and without direct supervision

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills with sound conflict resolution skills

 

This role is the front line for our specialist vet clinic. To make the role fulfilling, you will need to maintain a positive demeanour even under stress, and stay calm with the confidence to handle a variety of situations. Most importantly, you will need to genuinely like helping people and their pets.

This is a permanent full time position, between Mon-Sun between 6.00 am and 10.00 pm, including weekends. This role will not lead to a veterinary nursing position.
